Juan Carlos de la Concepción
Juan Carlos de la Concepción is a Postdoc researcher from the Austrian Academy of Sciences, at the Gregor Mendel Institute (GMI). He is part of the Dagdas Group at GMI, which focuses on plant microbe interactions and plant pathology. His work involves studying effectors, which are proteins secreted by pathogens to manipulate host cells.

Biochemical basis of plant exocyst evolution
Juan Carlos de la Concepción is a postdoctoral researcher at the Gregor Mendel Institute (GMI). He did his PhD at John Innes Center on the field of plant-microbe interaction, where he discovered that effectors manipulate the exocyst complex. For his Postdoc, he is part of the Dagdas Group at GMI, where he studies the evolution of the exocyst complex as a model to understand how macromolecular complexes evolve and acquire new functions. For that, he uses a multidisciplinar approach including proteomics, electron cryomicroscopy, and comparative biology.
