How to get to CRAG

CRAG is located at the campus of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), in the town of Bellaterra (Cerdanyola del Vallès), 20 Km from the city of Barcelona. CRAG can be reached by public or private transportation. If you come to CRAG with you own vehicle, check the “Parking at CRAG” section below.

FROM BARCELONA

By train

Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) – recommended option

Line S2 (Sabadell-Parc del Nord)

Line S6 (Universitat Autònoma)

In Barcelona these trains stop at Plaça Catalunya, Provença, Gràcia, Muntaner and Sarrià. The lines S2 and S6 stop at the UAB Campus (Bellaterra and Universitat Autònoma stations). From Plaça Catalunya it takes 40 minutes and there are trains every 6 minutes in rush hours and every 15 minutes in valley hours. From the city of Barcelona to you will need a 1-zone ticket. To go to the CRAG, get off the train at the “Universitat Autònoma” station. There is a 10-minute walk from the “Universitat Autònoma” FGC station to the CRAG.

By RENFE train

Line R7 (Sant Andreu Arenal – Cerdanyola Universitat)

From Barcelona Renfe-Cercanias train stations of Sants, Plaça Catalunya, or Arc de Triomf take a train (lines R3 and R12) to Sant Andreu Arenal station. There you will need to change the line to take the R7 to “Cerdanyola Universitat”.  The complete Journey is about 25 minutes, and trains depart approximately every 30 minutes all day long. Once in the arrival station you may take a 5 minutes free UAB bus to the “Eureka” stop, which is right next to the CRAG building.

FROM BARCELONA-EL PRAT AIRPORT

Taxi

The official taxis in Barcelona are yellow and black. You will find a taxi area by any of the main exits of the terminals. The journey to the UAB campus lasts about 40 minutes in normal traffic conditions and will cost approximately 50€. 

Public Transportation

To go from the airport to the CRAG by public transportation, you will need to go first to the city of Barcelona. There are different options to do it:

Bus (Aerobus)

Departures every 5-10 minutes from any of the airports terminals. The journey to Plaza Catalunya (Barcelona) is about 35 minutes. Get off at Plaça Catalunya and walk 3 minutes to the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat (FGC) to get to CRAG by train.

Train (RENFE)

The train is located at the T2 terminal of the airport. It takes 20 minutes to Barcelona. You can either get off the train at the Sants Estació station or at Passeig de Gràcia Station. From there you will need to take another train to Sant Andreu Arenal station (see above for indications from there to CRAG)

PARKING AT CRAG

Once in the CRAG vicinity, you can go to the CRAG Entrance, where there are some parking spots, or you can go to the CRAG Outdoor Parking Lot. To park in the parking lot you will need to use the intercom and ask the receptionist to open the barrier.
