Congress: Registration is open for the meeting: “When development meets stress: Understanding developmental reprogramming upon pathogenesis in plants”

The meeting will take place on the 3rd and 4th of September in Barcelona, Spain

The Centre for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) organizes, in collaboration with Biocat and “la Caixa" Foundation, a B-Debate meeting which will bring together renowned scientists working in plant development and defence, as well as experts on the incipient merging of both disciplines.

In the current context of climate change and population growth, there is a pressing need to optimize crop production by increasing its yield and decreasing loses. An effective way of optimizing crop production relies on enhancing natural plant defence in order to diminish pest-related loses, but unfortunately, strong immune responses are detrimental to plant growth affecting yield production. This B-debate meeting aims to discuss new promising approaches to better understand stress-development trade-offs. The meeting will cover the topics of plant-pathogen co-evolution and adaptation, hormone and signalling cascades and genome dynamics, cell biology and molecular single-cell approaches, among others.

The meeting is led by the CRAG Researchers Ignacio Rubio-Somoza, Nuria Sanchez-Coll and Paloma Mas, and will count with renowned international speakers. The scientific program can be found in the meeting website.

Attendees are invited to submit an abstract for a poster presentation.

The registration will remain open until May 1st unless it sells out before. There are only 75 spots available.

The symposium is in line with B-Debate goals, which aims to drive top-notch international scientific events to foster debate, collaboration and open exchange of knowledge among international experts in order to tackle complex challenges of high interest in the life sciences.
