Julia Santiago Cuellar

University of Lausanne

Julia Santiago is a prominent researcher in plant biotechnology and molecular biology, with a focus on plant signaling mechanisms. She holds an engineering degree in agronomy with a specialization in biotechnology from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) (2003), a master’s in biotechnology from the University of Nottingham, and a Ph.D. in biotechnology and molecular biology from the Institute of Cell and Molecular Biology of Plants in Valencia and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Grenoble (2011).

Her postdoctoral work included research stays at the Friedrich Miescher Laboratory of the Max Planck Institute in Germany (2012) and the Department of Botany at the University of Geneva (2014). Since 2015, she has led The Plant Signaling Mechanisms Lab at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, where she investigates how plants perceive and respond to their environment through a complex cellular communication network that regulates growth and adaptation.
