News: Jobs: Open Group Leader Position (“Científico Titular CSIC”) at CRAG on “Adaptive Responses of the Plant Metabolome”.

The Centre for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG, Barcelona, Spain; http://www.cragenomica.es) is seeking applicants for a tenured position in Plant Metabolomics, in the area of “Adaptive Responses of the Plant Metabolome”.

The successful candidate will develop an independent and internationally-recognized research line within the Research Program of Plant Metabolism and Metabolic Engineering. Candidates must be highly knowledgeable about leading-edge methodologies in the study of plant metabolism and to have hands-on experience in metabolic profiling by MS-based and other state-of-the-art analytical techniques. The successful candidate will be expected to leverage and exploit the analytical equipment and facilities at CRAG to address scientific questions related, but not limited, to (1) plant metabolic responses to a changing environment, e.g., in relation to biotic or abiotic stress; (2) ‘systems’ analysis of metabolic networks, fluxes, and control points; (3) diversity and function of plant metabolites in an environmental or ecological context; and (4) application of the above in the areas of crop improvement, food security and quality, or biomaterials.

CRAG is committed to provide independent investigators with the best possible support to successfully develop their careers. The successful candidate will join CRAG as Group Leader and will receive (i) office space and equipped laboratory space to host her/his research team, (ii) fee-free use of CRAG's technical services and core units, and (iii) further financial aid in the form of reduced overheads on grants and contracts (both during the first two years at CRAG). He/she will have access to all Administration and General Support Services (Projects and Grants Office, Human Resources Office, Finances Office, etc.). International (non-Spanish) applicants are specifically encouraged to apply.

This is a tenured position sponsored by the Spanish National Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, CSIC), and the application follows national administrative procedures (see pdf for details). The position is open to citizens of all EU Member States or their spouses, and for residents in Spain, among others (for full details on the eligibility criteria, see pdf). Application materials should be submitted electronically as indicated (see pdf) to adminstracion.gob.es/PAG/ips (Program Call: CIENTÍFICOS TITULARES DE OPIS).
Deadline: November 10, 2015.
Inquiries or additional information: please contact the Scientific Coordinator of the Plant Metabolism and Metabolic Engineering Program at CRAG, Manuel Rodriguez-Concepción (manuel.rodriguezatcragenomica.es).

CRAG is an independent research institution established as a Consortium that includes the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (Institut de Recerca i Tecnologia Agroalimentàries, IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, UAB), and University of Barcelona (Universitat de Barcelona, UB). CRAG new facilities, located at the UAB campus, were inaugurated in 2011: an ample and well-equipped building designed for modern plant biology and genomics research. CRAG brings together -under a unified management and operational structure- basic research groups in plant development, physiology, metabolism and genetics; groups in bioinformatics and genomics working on plants and animals; and applied projects developed together with Agbio, Biotech, and Breeding companies.
