News: The Centre for Research in Agricultural Genomics receives the "Human Resources Excellence in Research" award

The Centre for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) CSIC-IRTA-UAB-UB has received the "Human Resources Excellence in Research" award. The award reflects CRAG's commitment to continuously improve its human resource policies in line with the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, and to conduct fair and transparent recruitment and appraisal procedures.

CRAG can now use the ‘HR Excellence in Research’ award and logo to help promote itself as a provider of a stimulating and favorable work environment. The award is granted to research institutions that, through the "HR Strategy for Researchers" procedure, conduct a thorough internal evaluation of its Human Resources policies and practices, and commit themselves to a detailed multi-year action plan to continuously improve them. The action plan is subject to periodic evaluations and progress monitoring.

Since the adoption of the Commission Recommendation on the Charter & Code in 2005, hundreds of institutions and organizations from countries in Europe and abroad have expressed their explicit support for the Charter & Code. The "HR Excellence in Research" award has already been granted to 213 institutions, 18 of them in Spain.

CRAG is established as a Consortium that includes the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and University of Barcelona (UB). CRAG is also member of the public Catalan Network of Research Centers (CERCA). CRAG is devoted to leading-edge research in the study of molecular and genetic traits and processes of interest in plants and farm animals and in the application of molecular approaches for breeding of species important for agriculture and food production (http://biannualreport2012-2013.cragenomica.es/).
