Plastid retrograde signaling is key for plant development and responses to the environment: mechanisms of action and evolution
Patricia León
Patricia León is a senior researcher and full-time faculty member with extensive expertise in plant developmental biology, molecular biology, and plant biotechnology. Holding a Ph.D. in Basic Biomedical Research from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), she has led impactful studies on plant signaling pathways, particularly in sugar signaling, plastid-to-nucleus communication, and carotenoid regulation, which are essential for plant development and environmental responses.
Her projects include international and national research initiatives, such as exploring plastid-nucleus signaling (funded by Pew Charitable Trusts) and carotenoid synthesis regulation. Recognized at the highest level (Level III) of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNI), Dr. León has also been a Howard Hughes Medical Institute International Research Scholar.
