Repetitive DNA: Function, Structure and Evolution

Repetitive DNA constitutes a significant portion of genomes, yet it is often overlooked despite its key roles in evolution, genome structure, and epigenetic regulation. Studying it poses challenges that demand innovative approaches—and the current moment, with the availability of advanced sequencing technologies and bioinformatic tools, is especially well-suited for tackling these challenges with greater precision.
Moreover, in a scientific landscape where understanding genomic complexity is increasingly critical—from human health to conservation and crop improvement—revisiting repetitive DNA is more timely than ever.
This workshop is envisioned as a cross-disciplinary space with the ultimate goal of highlighting the importance of repetitive DNA and fostering a community around its study.
