Plant defence workshop
The Plant defence experimental workshop is addressed to high school student groups from 16 to 18 years old, offered at the CRAG facilities in Bellaterra. The workshop aims to raise awareness on the relevance of plant science, and in particular on plant health research, while promoting scientific literacy and fostering scientific vocations. In the workshop, students will have to solve a scientific challenge posed by the Bacterial plant diseases and plant cell death research group. To solve it, they will need to work in teams like real scientists, making hypotheses, collecting data and reasoning the conclusions.
At this time, the registration period for the 2023/24 school year workshops is closed. Stay tuned to the CRAG website and social networks for news on the registration opening, or subscribe to the distribution list and we will notify you by email.
The workshop was designed in 2020 –Internacional Year of Plant Health– with a multidisciplinary team composed by CRAG communication and research personnel (Zoila Babot, Ana Beatriz Moreno, Núria Sánchez Coll and Marc Valls) and experts from the Research Centre for Science and Mathematics Education, from the Autonomous University of Barcelona –CRECIM-UAB– (Digna Couso, Maria Navarro Palà i Èlia Tena), with the collaboration of Felip Lorenzo, high school teacher and STEAMcat ambassador.
With the collaboration of the Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología - Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación and the Programa Centro de Excelencia Severo Ochoa - Agencia Estatal de Investigación.
